The 3rd Asian Law Junior Faculty Workshop was held on January 26-27, 2023 at NUS Law School. The workshop was open to young legal scholars from all over the world, focusing on legal issues in Asian jurisdictions and showcasing emerging scholarship in the field of Asian law. Twelve young faculty members from Oxford University, University of Tokyo, University of Glasgow, University of Hong Kong, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Southeast University, Taipei University, Chiang Mai University, Gadjah Mada University, Indonesia, Aoyama Gakuin University, Japan, Tamil Nadu National Law University, India, and National Law University of Orissa, India presented their papers. Associate Professor Zhang Yue from Southeast University School of Law and Institute of Human Rights presented Is Long-Arm Jurisdiction Too Long in International Law? companies (The Excessive Expansion of Long-Arm Jurisdiction under the Threshold of International Law: The Example of U.S. Sanctions against Chinese Enterprises), focusing on the rationality of the U.S. Foreign Relations Act (Fourth Edition) and the principle of rationality in customary international law. The seminar analyzed the illegality of the practice of long-arm jurisdiction and China's response strategy from the perspective of the reasonableness of the U.S. Foreign Relations Act (Fourth Edition) and the principle of reasonableness in customary international law, and received the agreement of the participating experts and scholars. The seminar also invited senior scholars from world-renowned universities such as Oxford University, University of Chicago, National University of Singapore, Singapore Management University, Nanyang Technological University, and Otago University to give in-depth guidance to each selected paper, providing young scholars with valuable opportunities to receive feedback from renowned scholars in their respective fields.
